The Weir Minerals Africa Bursary Programme 2022
The company sponsors certain students every year who are in need of financial assistance to complete their education.
For the academic year 2022, Weir will award bursaries to students who are interested in the following fields:
The bursary will pay for the following expenses incurred by the student:
Full tuition cost
There will also be a monthly allowance for all eligible students. Furthermore, students will have to engage in 6 to 8 months of vacation work every year to enhance their skills.
The amount isn’t paid in full at once. Instead, it’s renewed each year based on the academic performance of the previous year. So if the performance is found to be insufficient, the bursary coverage might be cancelled.
After completing bursary-funded education, students will have to work for Weir for a period equal to when they received the funding. This is part of their “Graduate Development Framework” that prepares college graduates for the workforce.
Before receiving the funding, bursars will have to sign a contract agreeing to the above requirements.
The Weir bursary is open to all. But to be selected, you need to fulfill the eligibility criteria. Weir receives thousands of applications each year. So it selects the candidates based on several factors, of which eligibility requirements are a part.
Here are the eligibility criteria for Weir bursary 2022:
Must be a South African citizen
Must have completed Matriculation
Must be studying full-time towards a degree in the aforementioned field of studies
Must be currently in the first year of the degree programme

Must have an overall average of no less than 60% or “C” symbol
Should be proficient in computer and be able to work in Microsoft Office
Must demonstrate good planning and organisation skills

If you fulfill all the criteria, apply for the bursary. But fulfilling all the criteria doesn’t guarantee selection. It’s up to the selection committee to make the final decision.
