About The National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC)
The National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC) is one of the South African Governments Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), established in 1996. The organisation was created with the aim to serve the evolving needs of South African households to access and afford appropriate housing in a good quality environment. National Housing Finance Corporation’s mission is to provide affordable and innovative housing finance solutions to South Africa’s low-to-middle income classes.
The NHFC mandate includes giving out loans to institutions that offer rental housing like social housing, private rental, incremental housing, subsidy housing, affordable housing, and finance-linked individual subsidy programmes. They mainly focus on funding social housing institutions, privately owned property developers, investors, construction companies and non-banking retail intermediaries.
NHFC Bursary Fund 2022
The NHFC Bursary Fund 2022 is NHFC’s tertiary bursary fund created to bolster capacity, work opportunities and expertise related to the housing finance sector.
Students pursuing their second year of tertiary education or postgraduate studies in the following fields of study can apply to the bursary:
Providing the full bursary to the selected applicants will be made a priority. However, the NHFC has the right to prioritise tuition fees, course material and the prescribed books. Student accommodation and other requirements might be given less priority comparatively. The NHFC Bursary Fund can be renewed each year if the student keeps up with the required academic performance standards.
Eligibility Criteria For The NHFC Bursary Fund
The students applying to the NHFC Bursary Fund 2022 must be able to satisfy the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the bursary:
The student applying to the bursary must be a South African citizen.
The applicant must have completed their matric education.
The applicant must be a full-time student.
The student must be pursuing their tertiary or postgraduate education in one of the fields mentioned above to be eligible to apply.
The applicant must be in their second year of education and must have completed their first year with good academic performance.
The student applying must be enrolled in an accredited and recognised institution located in South Africa.
The applicant must have and be able to maintain a solid academic record.
Only applicants from financially disadvantaged backgrounds are eligible to apply.
How to Apply For The NHFC Bursary Fund?
If you can fulfil all of the above criteria, you are eligible to apply for the NHFC Bursary Fund 2022 and can go ahead and download the application form. Alternatively, you can get the application forms from registrars of select universities.
Once the application form has been filled, you can email the same with other required documents to the bursary providers at the email id – firstname.lastname@example.org. The subject line of the email should be – “NHFC Bursary Fund Application 2022”.
Keep in mind that NHFC will contact only the applicants who are shortlisted. So, if you do not receive any email communication from the bursary providers, know that you have not been accepted.
The students who are applying to the NHFC Bursary Fund 2022 will have to keep the following document ready and submit them along with their bursary application:
An RSA barcoded copy of the applicant’s South African ID.
A certified and clear copy of the parent or guardian’s ID document.
The ID documents or birth certificates of all the family members listed on the application as a part of the student’s household.
Matric and other past academic results.
Proof of admission at an approved university in any of the fields mentioned above.
The student’s academic record on the official university letterhead.
Proof of the monthly income of parent or guardian in the form of latest payslips if the person is employed, or an affidavit if unemployed.
You may be rejected if any of the above documents is missing in your email with the attached application.
Closing Date Of The NHFC Bursary Fund
The last date of application is 31 January 2022. Late submissions and incomplete applications will not be accepted, so make sure that you submit the application on time with all of the required documents listed above.
