About University of the Western Cape
The University of Western Cape (UWC) is a prime public university of South Africa located in Bellville, Cape Town. It was established in 1960 to facilitate higher learning and provide high-quality facilities for research and innovation on a global scale.
UWC has more than 50 departments that offer certificate, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses. Every year more than 20,000 students study at the university.
Since the university is a national education institution, it promotes both African and international contexts in its mission. One of that is to create a more equitable, dynamic, and cooperative world.
Erika Theron Trust Postgraduate Scholarships 2022
The University of Western Cape has emphasized equality and diversity on the campus. It has several financial aid programmes in place to increase diversity. One of them is the Erika Theron Trust Postgraduate Scholarship programme. It is intended for female students who are pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work at UWC.
The Trust is named after Erika Theron, who was a professor and a previous chancellor of UWC. She was an advocate for higher education among women. The Trust is committed to enabling more female students to take up postgraduate courses in Social Work.
The coverage and value of the bursary will be decided on a case-by-case basis and availability of funds. Since the Trust is managed and run by a group of Trustees, the amount contributed varies from year to year. Shortlisted candidates will get more information regarding the scholarship value and duration.
